Members include undergraduate pre-medical students exploring osteopathic medicine; current osteopathic medical students (OMS) at U.S. Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine; and alumni — including residents, fellows, and practicing physicians — who stay engaged through mentoring, advocacy, and networking. These are individuals training for or already practicing as Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), often studying or working at U.S. osteopathic medical schools, teaching hospitals, or clinical practices. The Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) represents pre‑medical and osteopathic medical students — as well as alumni — across the United States. Founded in 1970, SOMA serves as the national, student‑led advocacy and education voice for osteopathic physicians‑in‑training, offering networking, mentoring, leadership development, scholarships, and direct representation to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), making it a high‑value channel for advertisers or sponsors seeking a dedicated, professional, and health‑care‑oriented audience.
